What is Internet, Basic Introduction of Internet?
The Internet is a computer network made up of thousands of
networks spread around the world. No one knows how many computers are connected
to the Internet, but it is certain that this number is in the billions.
No one has rights on the Internet. There are some
organizations that develop its technical dimensions, and set rules for building
applications on it, but there is no central control. The backbone of the
Internet through which the entire Internet traffic runs is authorized by
private companies.
All computers on the Internet communicate with each other
through the Transmission Control Protocol / Internet protocol suite (TCP / IP).
Computers on the Internet are in a client / server environment. This means that
the remote server machine provides files and all services on the user's local
client machine. Software can be installed on the client computer using the
latest access technology.
Different types of services are available to an Internet
user such as electronic mail, file transfer, detailed information repository,
membership of interest groups, interactive collaboration, multi-media display,
real time broadcast, shopping tools, news and а lot.
The Internet is made up of mainly different types of
protocols. Many of these protocols provide programs that allow the user to find
and receive the information available to him.
It is very much a group of networks, or in common language,
the Internet is also called the Network of Networks. Computers that exchange
information through some common networks and software protocols.
Here is some information about the utility of the Internet -
1. With the help of an e-mail address, you can exchange
e-mail with hundreds of people.
2. The number of files stored on any computer around the
world can be found and obtained.
3. Find and bring any Freeware and Commercial software to
your computer.
4. Searching databases of government, people or
institutions.
5. To join a discussion group focused on various
subject-specific (Newsgroup).
6. Exchange of program data files such as desktop publishing
files, spreadsheets, CAD files or word processor files on which you or the
recipient can start working immediately.
7. Exchange of sound, animation and picture files from
remote location to establish discussions or task-focused groups.
8. To find means of private or public information services
on the Internet.
9. Connecting on the Internet and interacting with people in
real time.
10. Setting up a site that has information about your
company's products and services.
11. To view and find list of various products and services
and to buy goods from home.
12. Doing test marketing’s.
13. Reading or distributing electronic publications.
14. Buying or selling products and services.
Above are some of the many benefits of internet. This is
like the peak of Iceberg - no one knows how much it is capable of doing. It is
necessary to know that the internet facilitates almost every task. Our
imagination is a limit.
