1. Speed:
The printer can print one letter at a time. Such printers are called serial printers. For some home computers, the printer prints 600 characters in 1 minute or the laser printer prints 21000 lines per minute at a faster speed.
There is also a machine which is a page printer, it prints 1 line at a time, but it can be of more or less speed. Low-speed page printers are laser printers and are very common in the office. Printers that print at high speed use xerographic photographic or laser technology. They are very expensive and are used in very large businesses for special circumstances.
2. Printing Method:
Printers can be either Impact printers or No Impact printers. Hammer technology is used in an Impact printer. In this, the printer strikes the ribbon so that the output is printed on the paper, as the typewriter does.
3. Print Quality:
Printer can be draft quality or letter quality.
3.1. Draft Quality:
The dot matrix printer prints the letters through a matrix of pins. This is used to construct a matrix or grid number variety. Although some dot matrix printers can print letter quality images. Others create images with some fuzzy appearance.
3.2. Letter Quality Printer:
These printers generate characters that are similar to those generated by office typewriters. These letters can generate good quality for the bank customer, these printers are more expensive than dot matrix printers.
